Prayer is often the simplest reflection and reception; you pray, “Lord help us.” And help arrives. The question is do we allow ourselves to receive it? I am reminded of an old joke:

A man chooses to wait out the storm and he say’s to himself. The Lord will save me.

So as the storm comes a policeman comes to the door and says we are expecting it to flood in the area and suggest that you evacuate.

Then the man responded I’m not worried the Lord will save me.

Later as the waters rise to the height of his deck a neighbor floats up in his boat and say’s get in!

Then the man responded I’m not worried the Lord will save me.

Later the man is on his roof and a rescue helicopter arrives and drops him a rope.

Then the man waves them off. I’m not worried the Lord will save me.

Two hours later the water overwhelms the house. The house collapses and the man drowns.

When the man meets God in heaven he asks God I prayed for your help, why didn’t you help me?

The Lord say’s, “I sent a policeman, a boat and a helicopter. How else was I to help”

The help was there just not the man’s reception of it.
